Scanography, or scanner photography, is the process of creating digital media through the use of a flatbed scanner instead of a camera.

These scans are high-resolution, detailed images with unique depth-of-field effects. I’ve used scanners with different materials that change the properties of the light captured by the scanner bar itself allowing for a screen ripping effect as well as real time manipulation of form. Often, I edit these images as little as possible and use the base scanner contrast, brightness and speed to achieve the differences in color, depth and form.
